'Gardening for Wildlife' Talk in Cabin John Lots of Fun |

Birds are a savvy gardener's best friend, as they eat hundreds of insects a day, and feed them to their young. Toads eat hundreds of insects a night! Butterflies and moths pollinate 8% of the world's flowering plants, bees 16%. Unfortunately, with habitat fragmentation and too many deer overbrowsing the understory, our songbird populations are plummeting here in Maryland. Our bees are suffering from colony collapse disorder and butterflies are not faring very well either. What can you do? Plenty! With a bit of planning and a few simple tweeks, you can transform your patch of the world into a haven for wildlife. Whether you garden in a container or on several acres, you can make a difference.
